Victim Services

The Columbus Division of Police Victim/Witness Services Unit is a part of the Homicide Bureau. The primary goal of the unit is to assist victims/witnesses that are affected by a violent crime, and assist victims/witnesses to regain normalcy in their lives. We hope to empower them to overcome the negative circumstances they have experienced which may have resulted in physical, mental, and financial trauma.

The Victim/Witness Services Unit will:

  • Provide copy of the Victim Rights Information.
  • Provide the victim/witnesses with a list of services or resources that may help them following a traumatic incident.
  • Provide a point of contact and maintain a positive relationship with victim/witnesses.
  • Be a liaison between the Victim and Detectives working on their case.
  • Work with local Victim/Witness advocate groups and speak with the community at various times about what the unit provides.
