COLUMBUS, Ohio – Food truck vendors will now be able to
register for locations around the city online and for residents looking for a
pita, taco or other tasty food-truck fare, finding your favorite food wagon
will be as easy as a click of a mouse.
Councilmember Zach M. Klein announced the next phase of its
Mobile Food Vending Program and is working with Kaplan Artists Group who has
developed an online registration system for Mobile Food Vendors as well as a
way for customers to be able to see where around the city their favorite food
truck vendor will be.
“Columbus
is a ‘foodie’ town and the food truck industry is growing in Columbus and
across the nation,” said Klein, Chair of Council’s Public Safety Committee.
“Our program supports small businesses and goes a long way towards meeting the
great demand for access to food trucks from our residents and from tourists.”
“I
am looking forward to helping mobile food vendors increase revenue, grow their
business, and provide the highest quality mobile food-vending program for the
City of Columbus,” said Chas Kaplan, President, Kaplan Artists Group.
In 2014, the Columbus City Council adopted legislation that,
for the first time, allowed Mobile Food Vendors to sell from city streets.
Previously, they could only sell their products on private property. The
legislation adopted by City Council also created the Mobile Food Vending Board.
