New Water, Sewer and Electricity Service - For Property Owners
Need to start water/sewer or electricity service for a property you just purchased? Our Customer Service Center can assist - they will need to get some information from you and obtain a meter reading from the property. Please call 614-645-8276 weekdays from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
New Water and Sewer Service - For Tenants
If you are renting (or purchased on land contract) and want to receive water/sewer bills, you will need to complete and sign a Tenant Billing Agreement(PDF, 139KB) with the property owner; the property owner will receive a copy of all bills. Division of Power Service Area Map

Obtaining Water Service
To verify if a property is eligible for water service from the City of Columbus, please contact the Sales Office at 614-645-7330 weekdays 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Includes associated forms required for connecting to city water service and a schedule of the fees.
Obtaining Sanitary Sewer Service
To verify if a property is eligible for sanitary sewer service from the City of Columbus, please contact DOSD's Permit Desk 614-645-7490, or in person at 111 N Front Street, 43215 (weekdays 7:30 am - 4:00 pm).

Auxiliary Metering Systems
Sewer charges are based on water usage and assumes all water goes down a drain. Those using large amounts of water not entering the sewer system (examples: outdoor watering, irrigation systems) could save by installing an auxiliary meter system.
Water and Sewer Contract Communities
Public Utilities provides water & sewer service to over 20 communities in addition to Columbus through contractual agreements. Many of the customers in these communities receive a bill from Columbus. Other municipalities buy water in bulk from Columbus and handle their own billing (master metered communities).
