Educational Requirements for Crime Lab

Forensic Scientist I
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing entry level professional scientific analyses to examine, identify, and evaluate physical evidence; performs related duties as required.

Forensic Scientist II
Under direction, is responsible for performing fully skilled professional scientific analyses to examine, identify, and evaluate physical evidence; performs related duties as required.

Forensic Scientist III
Under direction, is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert and supervisor of assigned staff within a forensic unit, which may include one or more forensic disciplines, or serving as the quality assurance manager for the laboratory; performs related duties as required.

Police Evidence Technician
Under general supervision, is responsible for identifying, preserving, and processing physical evidence and related items collected or obtained from crime scenes; performs related duties as required.

Latent Print Examiner I
Under general supervision, is responsible for entry-level latent print examination in the Crime Laboratory; performs related duties as required.

Latent Print Examiner II
Under direction, is responsible for fully-skilled latent print examination in the Crime Laboratory; performs related duties as required.

Latent Print Examiner III
Under general direction, is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert and supervisor of assigned staff within the latent print specialization in the Crime Laboratory; performs related duties as required.

Data Management Coordinator
Under general direction, is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the on-going management of data and processes associated with a complicated and comprehensive information management system(s) from a functional user perspective; performs related duties as required.
