Bomb Squad

Established in 1966, the Columbus Division of Fire Bomb Squad works under the Special Operations Section of the Emergency Services Bureau. Operating 24/7/365 and classified as a FEMA Type I squad the CFD Bomb Squad is staffed by 16 FBI certified bomb technicians covering 36 Ohio counties. 

Responsibilities include - Explosives, IED's, Suspicious Packages, Commercial Fireworks, and Special Events which includes VIP dignitary support.  In addition to highly advanced robotic equipment and FBI based technical training, the CFD Bomb Squad has five explosive detection K9s which are an integral part of our team and add to our ability to complete our mission.
