Sustainable Columbus

Sustainable Columbus works to reduce climate change impact in our community to protect the environment and improve the quality of life for all – for today’s residents and for future generations. We shape policy and create actionable programming to improve our city’s environment, and we give residents the tools to incorporate sustainability into their everyday lives.

Columbus Climate Action Plan

Our community is upping its ambition, and is committed to bold goals of 45% emissions reduction by 2030 to ensure Columbus is doing its fair share to combat global climate change. The 2050 goal is carbon neutral. This is part of the city's community roadmap to equity, health, and prosperity for all Columbus families. The plan leads with ambition, guided by science and centered in equity.

Columbus Youth Climate Action Fund

Are you passionate about the environment? Do you want to see real change in your city? The City of Columbus is offering a new opportunity for youth-led organizations to make a meaningful impact on our communities and play a part in local government efforts to combat climate change.

With 84 percent of youth around the world reporting that they are worried climate change threatens people and the planet, Bloomberg Philanthropies launched the Youth Climate Action Fund to help empower the next generation of climate leaders. As a Bloomberg Sustainable City, Columbus has received a total of $50,000 to distribute as microgrants to youth-led organizations seeking to address climate change and its impacts on our community!
