Go Solar Columbus

Rooftop solar on single family home

Sustainable Columbus partners with Solar United Neighbors (SUN) to encourage residents in Columbus to go solar through the Switch Together program. This supports the Columbus Climate Action Plan clean energy goals. Switch Together brings together residents from all around Franklin County to go solar together. Choosing to go solar as a group saves you money by enabling competitive bids from installers due to a large group going solar together. The program also provides unbiased support from SUN’s team of experts that will walk you through every part of the process, from information and key terms, to financing and installation.

Putting solar on your roof not only saves you money on your electric bill each month, but it also helps reduce pollution and create a cleaner environment for you and your neighborsSince the program began in 2021 there have been over 600 program participants resulting in 78 completed solar projects. As we continue to empower our residents to make the best decisions for their families, we need your help! Join our upcoming Switch Together program or tell your friends and family about the opportunity. As a trusted messenger, you are the most likely to change the behavior of those around you.

How does Switch Together work?

Switch Together organizes groups of residents who are interested in going solar, together. By organizing a group purchase for solar panels, Switch Together can get a better deal for everyone in the group.

1. Registration

Sign up online today. It’s free to join. There’s no obligation to make a purchase.

2. Auction

Pre-vetted installers participate in an auction. The best bid wins.

3. Personal recommendation

You'll get a personal installation proposal based on your registration details.

4. Make Your Decision

Once you get the offer, you can decide if you want to accept and proceed with a site survey. If you choose to accept, you will be asked to pay a small deposit towards the full cost of your solar installation.

5. Installation

If you accept your recommendation, Switch Together will transfer you to the installer that won the auction. The installer will contact you for a survey and set an installation date. The survey will verify your roof's suitability and result in a final offer.
