2024 State of the City Address - Full Text
Mayor Andrew J. Ginther delivered his annual State of the City address on May 21 at the Lincoln Theatre in the historic King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood.
In his speech, Mayor Ginther outlined his vision for the future of Columbus as well as his priorities for his third term in office: strengthening community safety; promoting inclusive, affordable neighborhoods; and building an expanded, equitable and affordable transportation system.
Mayor Ginther emphasized the importance of regional collaboration to address the challenges and opportunities stemming from unprecedented population growth. He also asked residents to get involved by developing a deeper understanding of the issues and taking an active role in mentoring Columbus youth.
By banding together to lift up every neighborhood, the City of Columbus is poised to harness this unparalleled moment in our history and ensure a bright and boundless future for all our residents.
The Zone In initiative is a multi-phase effort to comprehensively update the city's zoning code for the first time in 70 years, which is critical to guiding future growth in a smart and equitable way. Specifically, this effort has set out to achieve five goals:
