06-13-24: Columbus Promise Leaders Share Ongoing Successes of the Pilot Program, Commit to Program Extension

Leaders across the City of Columbus, Columbus State Community College, Columbus City Schools and I Know I Can are thrilled to update the public on the continued success of the Columbus Promise, a groundbreaking public-private partnership launched in 2021 that covers free tuition, fees, a $500/semester stipend, and additional wraparound academic and career support services to CCS graduates who enroll at CSCC.

Columbus City Council is now accepting applications for the next internship cohort! The 2024-25 school year program will run from September to April and is open to any college junior, senior, or first-year graduate student.

Columbus City Council voted on ordinances to approve $8.6 million to go to nonprofit organizations to provide kids and teens with fun summer opportunities to grow in a variety of ways, whether it be through sports, music, gardening, STEM, or employment.

As the City continues to work with partners to address a growing housing and homelessness crisis, Mayor Andrew J. Ginther and City Council President Shannon G. Hardin today announced a historic investment of $9.4 million investment in the Community Shelter Board (CSB), nearly tripling the City’s yearly funding in combatting the homelessness crisis.
