Hundreds of bicyclists and families are expected to attend the 4th Annual BikeColumbus Festival. The event, which celebrates the City’s Bicentennial 200, supports Mayor Coleman’s commitment to active living, healthier neighborhoods and safe, accessible bike transportation.
Mayor Coleman will lead the Twilight Ride, a 10 or 20 mile route through the Columbus Commons, Scioto Mile, and the new Rich Street Bridge. The ride, which is sponsored by TREK and AEP, also includes views of parks, city landmarks and a variety of architecture in the Franklin Park, King-Lincoln, Victorian Village, and Franklinton neighborhoods. Riders will return to Water Fire for bonfires on the river and free entertainment by the Arnett Howard band. Cost of the ride is $30 per rider.
The first ever Family Fun Event will be held before the ride. The free event features activities, including a kids’ bike safety rodeo, COSI science spots, and prizes.
The Steve Barbour Memorial Tour, presented by Columbus Outdoor Pursuits, features a 31, 62, 93 or 124 mile ride. Cost of the tour is $50. Tickets for both the Twilight Ride and Memorial Tour can be purchased for $60.
Event proceeds benefit Columbus Public Health’s Active Living Initiative to support bikes for kids, bike helmets, bike safety and education, walking, farmers’ markets and community gardens, and Consider Biking to support bike safety, education, outreach and infrastructure.
