The year 2012 will mark Columbus’ 200th anniversary as a city. In celebrating Columbus’ history we also want to envision its future. We need to assess our strengths and our weaknesses and aspire to achieve – to establish goals and deliver them by 2012. Let’s make 2012 the first year of Columbus’ Renaissance.
The 2012 Project’s mission is to create a community ambition of ideas, initiatives and goals that continues to transform Columbus into the best place in the nation to live, work, play and raise a family which will be achieved or started by 2012.
The 2012 Commission will be appointed by Mayor Michael B. Coleman and City Council to lead the community in determining Columbus’ future and tasked with creating the Blueprint for the Bicentennial document. The Commission will be asked to think big – to determine what matters to our city, to our neighborhoods, and to our future.
