The Art of Walking
Walking is a great way to keep your body at a healthy weight. Obesity and chronic disease has risen in the United States. We may be raising the first generation of children to live a shorter life span than their parents, in part due to obesity and obesity-related conditions. Physical activity can prevent or reduce obesity, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and some cancers.
The US Surgeon General recommends 60 minutes of physical activity for children and 30 minutes for adults each day. Columbus Art Walks are a unique way to get active while seeing great public art, architectural and historical sites around Columbus. These plotted paths can provide entertainment for art buffs, educational lessons for students, and visual distractions for those trying to keep active, year-round.
Take a Tour of Columbus Art, Architecture and History
Columbus Art Walks are self-guided walking maps and audio tours of several districts in Columbus. The maps direct you to sites while recorded messages tell you about each one. The phone number has a recording with information about each site on the map. Please call the main number (614) 645- 2646 and enter the 3-digit extension number to hear specific site information. The majority of the routes are accessible and flat.
