Council Announces Process, Timeline to Fill Vacancy

Columbus City Council President Andrew J. Ginther announced the process to fill the seat being vacated by Council President Pro Tem A. Troy Miller. Miller intends to resign from Columbus City Council effective Friday, September 26, 2014.

In a memo to city councilmembers, President Ginther outlined the appointment process and announced that applications for the vacant Council seat will be accepted beginning today. Applicants must submit eight (8) copies of a resume and a narrative of no more than 500 words describing the greatest challenges and opportunities facing Columbus. Application materials must be accepted and time-stamped by the office of the Columbus City Clerk located in City Hall, 90 West Broad Street, Room 231, Columbus, OH 43215 by Friday, September 19, at 12:00 pm. 

Finalists selected for interviews should anticipate meeting with all councilmembers on Thursday, October 2, or Friday, October 3. A Council vote on the appointment is tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 6. The first meeting for the new member of Council would be Monday, October 20. Council does not meet on October 13.
