Downtown On-Street Parking Restrictions at Parking Meters and Other Locations and Street Closures Before, During and After Red, White & Boom

To ease the flow of heavy vehicle traffic, parking restrictions will be in place on numerous downtown streets before, during and immediately after Red, White & Boom. While some parking restrictions will begin as early as Sunday, June 28, most parking meters will be bagged starting at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 2.  Signs will be posted in these areas to remind motorists that while they can legally park there after 10 p.m., there will be no overnight parking. Any vehicles remaining beginning at 3 a.m., Friday, July 3, will be ticketed and towed.  During the hours of parking restrictions, parking meters will be bagged and temporary No Parking signs will be posted where no meters exist.

Beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, July 3, all streets within the following boundaries will be closed:

  • North:  Spring Street
  • South:  Mound Street/West Rich Street
  • East:  3rd Street
  • West:  McDowell Street/Anson Street/Hocking Street

All closed streets will reopen at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, July 4, except the following streets that will reopen at 5 a.m., Saturday, July 4:

  • South 2nd Street, between West Rich Street and West Main Street
  • Civic Center Drive, between West Broad Street and West Rich Street
  • West Long Street, between Marconi Boulevard and Hocking Street
  • West Main Street, between the Main Street Bridge and South Front Street
  • Marconi Boulevard, between West Broad Street and West Long Street
  • West Nationwide Boulevard, between North Front Street and Neil Avenue

The following closures will be in effect following the conclusion of the Red, White & Boom fireworks show Friday night, July 3, through 12:01 a.m., Saturday, July 4:

  • Eastbound I-70 exit ramp to West Broad Street
  • Westbound I-70 exit ramp to West Broad Street
  • Northbound I-71 exit ramp to Greenlawn Avenue
  • Southbound I-71 exit ramp to Greenlawn Avenue
  • Eastbound lanes of McKinley Avenue east of North Central Avenue
  • Northbound North Souder Avenue between McKinley Avenue and Dublin Road (northbound traffic on North Souder Avenue will be detoured onto westbound McKinley Avenue)

Motorists are reminded to be alert for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling to and from Red, White & Boom festivities. Motorists and bicyclists must obey all traffic laws and, by law, must share the road legally and safely. Bicyclists riding after sunset and before sunrise are required by law to have operational headlights, taillights and reflectors on their bikes.
