WHEN:
5 p.m. Tuesday, March 13th

WHERE:
Fado Irish Pub, Easton Towne Center

DETAILS:
Central Ohio Safe Ride is a joint community program working to prevent impaired driving in Franklin County. The program promotes responsible serving and provides vouchers to be used towards taxi fare.

Members of The Shamrock Club will speak about what St. Patrick’s Day means and why people celebrate the day. They also will discuss why they are members of Central Ohio Safe Ride and what they do to promote safe, responsible drinking among members.

The group will encourage people to plan ahead for the celebration by:

• Taking cash out the day before for cab money
• Meeting as a group at a friends home and all taking a cab from there
• Taking a cab initially so there will be no temptation to drive
• Drinking responsibly and being safe while walking

In a two year period, DUI arrests increased in Franklin County.  In 2010, there were 6,161 DUI arrests compared to 7,078 last year.
