Fire Alarm Office (FAO)
The primary function of the FAO is to receive calls from the public and to dispatch the necessary recourses in order to best meet the requirements of the emergency. This function is performed by the Division and also several townships. The FAO is staffed with 1 Battalion Chief, 7 Lieutenants and 41 Firefighter /EMD Dispatchers.
In addition to processing emergency calls, FAO personnel do the following
- Handle non-emergency business calls
- Maintain the street card file
- Record the status of streets, sprinklers systems, area hospitals and fire hydrants
- Maintain the record of all reserve apparatus, burning permits and walkie-talkies
