Starting in 1994 the Community Relations Commission began a series of “Days of Dialogue” to capitalize on the Not in Our Town national dialogues joining communities all over the United States in an event where residents could come together and discuss their response to bigotry and intolerance in our community.
Due to the popularity of these days of dialogue, the CRC began hosting public forums where panels of topic experts could meet with the community to explore and learn about issues effecting Central Ohio.
Since August of 2005, the CRC has offered quarterly public forums on a variety of topics including:
Freedom of Speech, Eminent Domain, Voting Rights, The Patriot Act, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, English Only Legislation, Family First, Housing Challenges for the Newcomer Community, The African Diaspora, Economic Challenges in Central Ohio (Foreclosures), Hate and Bias Crimes, the Victims Perspective of Hate and Bias Crimes, Homelessness, Re-entry, Mental Health and the economy.
