Mayor Ginther Appoints Stephen Sayre to Deputy Chief of Staff
Mayor Andrew J. Ginther today announced that Stephen Sayre
will now serve as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Mayor’s office, handling policy
and governmental relations.
“Stephen has been a trusted partner in our work since I took
office in 2016,” said Mayor Ginther. ”His knowledge of policy at the municipal,
state and federal level is unmatched. I look forward to adding his
collaborative spirit to my senior leadership team.”
Sayre joined the Mayor’s Office in 2016 and has
led the city in advancing grant applications that have led to tens of millions
of federal dollars for city priorities. He was key in managing the distribution
of federal CARES and ARPA funds, and is Mayor Ginther’s appointee to the
steering committee being created to work with the White House and Federal
agencies on the recently announced Workforce Hub project. Sayre currently serves on the Boards of the
Workforce Development Committee of Central Ohio, the Columbus Region Green Fund
and MORPC.
“So much of the work we want to accomplish starts
with policies that lead to an equitable and thriving city,” said Sayre. “I am
grateful for Mayor Ginther’s trust in me to lead this team and continue to
build positive relationships with other governmental agencies.”
Prior to joining Mayor Ginther’s office, Sayre
served as a political consultant for several local and federal elected
officials, including members of Congress and former Mayor Michael B.
Coleman. He also served as a Legislative
Assistant on Capitol Hill. Sayre has a
Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
The promotion is effective immediately.
